364 days old...

Well, the day has come. Day 364 of Owen's life. He's been in our family for one day shy of a year and even though it sounds like a short time our life will never be the same. We love you little guy! Here are pics of his last night as a "baby" {although he'll always be my baby, right?}

First haircut

Right before his first birthday we *finally* took Owen for his first haircut. We didn't realize how shaggy it was until it got cut. He looks like a totally different boy. A big boy :(

He did pretty good at first. All smiles in the chair until a minute or two in when he only wanted to get DOWN. We let him lick on a lollipop (something we would have never done with Mo at one!) but he was still pretty upset. The hairdresser didn't even flinch though and just totally worked around his craziness and he got a great cut out of it. Who knew people could cut hair when a toddler moves their head that fast??

Valentine sibling pics

I was so bad about getting the kids together in time for Christmas pictures. So, I decided to do Valentine's pics and make up some cards to send out. It was fun to do them and everyone's reaction to them since they were unexpected :) We may be do this type of thing more often ;)

Valentine's party

Valentine's day is lots of fun for little ones! Before the big day there was glitter, hearts, pink and red paper and glue abound in our house while making cards for our loved ones. Morgan is really into crafts so she just ate it up. We all got sick (again!!!!) the week of the party so I'm SO glad we did our cards so early {yeah for planning ahead!} but we didn't get to make treat bags like we planned but that's okay.

The kids decorated mailboxes and then put each other's cards in them. It was adorable. And chaos. But adorable chaos. At then end one of the boys in the group gave Morgan a hug. He looooooves Mo and they get along so well. Another boy was going to hug her goodbye and the other boy told him "NO!" and moved him out of the way. And...so it begins. It was seriously so cute to see!

All the moms got so creative (of course!) with the cards/treats. One of the moms gave Mo THE cutest bow - here is her site Pennie Baby Bows. Also the hostess had some of those squeeze applesauce/fruit pouches. Ummm I had seen those before but never got them b/c I thought it was just pureed baby food (which we skipped) but those are totally life changing for this household! I've bought all types of flavors and threw some in the freezer for Owen to drink/chew on cold for his teeth and also I cna put them in our bag to go out for the day and they've thawed enough to drink/eat but are still cold. Seriously...what haven't I used these before??

Love having TWO kids

This month has by far been THE BEST month since having two kids. Morgan is really starting to love playing with Owen (I mean, she's always loved him but not necessarily wanted to play with him) and Owen is turning into this adorable little person. He's talking more, high fives, "talks" on the phone, reeeeaaaaccchhhes out for my hand like Morgan does (we pretend we are super far away and really have to reach our hands out to catch one another), is always chasing the dogs (or, ummm, giving them food!), he definitely prefers Morgan's sippy cup over his own, and lots of other fun things he's up to.

The last year (how has it been a year almost??) has been so fun in so many ways and really I was surprised at how much easier than it was compared to what I thought when I was pregnant. But, watching them play together and Morgan be so sweet to him just warms my heart :) Sure, there are hard times (especially when Owen is fussy...whoa that kid can wail!) and it's defnitely easier to just take one kid to the store but all in all it's great. I couldn't imagine Morgan without a sibling and could not imagine our lives without that sweet little Owen!

{of course it's impossible to take a pic of the two of them together!}

Funny little lady

I've been trying to keep a list of funny things Morgan says. It's hard b/c she is always saying something that cracks Jarid and I up. Some of the stuff she picks up from us, some from TV and others I just have NO idea where she got it.

- The other day we were playing and she said "Hey! What's the big idea??" Seriously?

- One night she grabbed my hand and walked me into the living room - tiptoeing and saying "it's gonna be scary, mommy" - and then pointed to the crocidile in the kitchen. Ha. So, I threw fake food from her play kitchen at the croc and she laughed like a mini hyena. So funny!

- She's always calling Owen something different everyday - like a little skunky skunk skunk or chinny chin chin. And she puts her finger on his cheek and uses this high voice. I heard her saying to him a few days ago "you're a stupid buddy, a stupid little baby buddy." She has NO idea that stupid isn't a nice word but after telling her it was she went back to her old "you're a silly buddy." She's also been calling him "boy" a lot lately. Like "here - grab this robe boy - I'm gonna pull you up!"

- She knows how to say her entire name and bounces her head up and down when she says our last name. It's really cute. Sometimes when I call her "cute" or "sweet cakes" or something she'll say "I not sweet cakes" - and then she'll say her entire name instead.

- She is really sweet with Owen these days. If he's upset she'll start singing this song (that she made up!!) - "when you make a funny face" (and then make a funny face) "when you make a sad face" (then sad face.) It's adorable. Also if this doesn't work she'll give him a toy and say "here you go buddy." I love watching her be so sweet with him.

- If one of us isn't feeling well she'll say "oh, here's some medicine for you" and give you some fake medicine from her hand :)

- Today the kids were playing in a play tent and Morgan kept pushing her face into the mesh and said "this is the .... game" and I couldn't hear what she said. When I asked her what it was she said "oh, nofing." But, she finally told me she named the game the "wubba wubba game" or something. She's really been using her imagination making up new game names for all her "regular" games.

- There is probably a million more things she does everyday that just totally crack me up. It's a really fun age and we're loving it!

Church valentine's party

The Church had a St. Valentine's Day party this year. It was lots of fun with cookie decorating, craft making and of course a bounce house. Guess where we spent 99% of our time? Ha!
