Sugar time

Sugar (Jarid's mom) came to visit us while Papa went to be with Grandma Cottrell in MN. We always have fun when Sugar's here :) This week we went to...you guessed it...the splash park! Morgan LOVES water and her Sugar so it was a great combo. Pretty sure Teresa had a good time too!

5 months today!

Owen is FIVE months old. It has gone by SO so fast for me. He is an adorable, loving, giggly, but sometimes fussy pants little mama's boy :) And I love it! He is trying so hard to grow up but I keep reminding him that mommy doesn't mind him being a baby a little longer! This is what he's up to:

- trying to sit up. You lay him on his back and immediately he is doing a little half-crunch to try to sit himself up. Nuts.
- rolling over from tummy to back. No interest in back to tummy yet but when he's done with his nap he'll flip over to his back and then let us know he's awake.
- grabbing at just everything! Toys, plates, the dogs, our hair, Morgan's face, you name it - he's grabbing at it. Watching him learn about his world is amazing.
- He loves playing in the exesaucer and walker. Already! He just bounces away and plays with all the toys and buttons. I can't believe he's old enough for that.
- he is super ticklish. Right under his chin, his sides and his little (okay, big) thighs. he lets out this big belly laugh and sometimes has to take a big deep breathe in b/c he's laughing so hard. I love it!
- he has moved into his "big boy" car seat this week. He's much more comfy in there and enjoys watching "Ming Ming" with his sister a little too much! (still rearfacing of course!)
- He's about 19-ish lbs now. No solids yet, just breastmilk :) Whoot!

Kid's museum

Brooke and I have been friends since 2002 when we started grad school. Kaylee was only a tiny one year old then. This week we went with them to the children's museum and Morgan showed the now TEN year old Kaylee around :) Morgan usually only sits on the side of the dino-dig area b/c she refuses to put her feet in the sand. However this time Kaylee got smart - she moved all the sand over in one area so Morgan was only on the floor underneath and then she slowly added sand on her feet. Genius!! Morgan had NO problem with it after that! It was fun to hang out with them and afterwards we stopped for cupcakes - yum. Should have gotten pics of that!

Splahspark again - this time with an old friend :)

One of my sorority sisters came to town and we got a chance to meet up. The kids playd at a splashpark and we ate lunch and caught up. It was pure chaos and fun, just like it always is with kiddos :) When I got home and was looking at the pics I was laughing b/c they are MUCH different than the type of pics we used to take in college. But fun just the same! Her cute little kiddos were so sweet and it was great to meet them!

4th of July

This 4th of July we went to a splash park. It was Jarid's first time to get to watch Morgan in action at one. Lots of fun but crazy hot. Later we had some friends over, ate some wings and then watched fireworks on the rooftop deck. Watching fireworks with Morgan was awesome - she kept saying "Look Mommy (or Daddy or Kerry)!!! Sparkles!!!!" At one point I said (on video) "I know, it's amazing, right Morgan?" so the next time she said "AMAZING mommy!!!" Being a parent means you sometimes miss out on all the craziness of holidays like that but things like that definitely make every minute worth it. Wouldn't change a thing!

Owen in July

Owen is 4.5 months old now. And just the cutest little thing. He's a much happier baby now that I'm no longer eating any dairy or soy - poor little guy just didn't feel good! He's rolling from tummy to back (although typically only after a nap when he's ready for someone to get him), playing with his hands and feet and loves to hold onto toys. He thinks Morgan is the funniest thing and giggles everytime she kisses him. He also grabs for her hair and nose and anything else he can catch and she surprisingly doesn't seem to mind too much!

I took some pics in this American bucket of Morgan in July 2009 when she was 2 months old and here I am again taking some of Owen when he's 4 months. Crazy! Getting pictures with an infant and a toddler is darn near impossible so these are just of little Owen :) And a comparison shot of Morgan at the end!
