We have a membership to the National Zoo (free to get in but parking is nuts so w/the membership that's free too.) We go there often but this was the first time we went in the evening. Man...this is the time to go! Sure a lot of the animals were up but there was no one there so we could roam without the crowds :)
As our quest to see all of the DC metro area continues we hit up the National Harbor. Cute little area right outside of Alexandria (although it's actually in Maryland...which is still so weird to have state's so close together!) The Children's museum is there but we just wanted to walk around and see what it was all about. They have a "living statue" in the sand where it looks like a greek god is about to bust out of the sand. Very cool. And boats...I could just sit and watch boats and water all day and be a happy, happy girl :)
This year for Fourth of July we skipped the DC craziness and hung out local. The Washington Monument (the backdrop for the fireworks show) is under construction anyway so it wouldn't have made for the best pictures/scene. We went to our friend's house for a yummy dinner and then walked over to the park where the festivities were being held. Morgan and I made red (okay, they turned out pink..whatev) chocolate chip cookies to share with the group. Yum! The kids ran around, Peyton laid around and us adults just chatted and hung out. The fireworks show was actually really awesome for living in a *town* - I was impressed! My kids really, really love watching fireworks and hearing them say "amazing!" "wow!" "awesome!" just doesn't get old :)
This is what happens when mom says "let's take a picture"
Yea, I call my baby Pookie ;) Ohhh he's the sweetest baby you've ever met I promise. I can't get enough of him. Neither can the kids or Jarid (and the dogs - they like his drool!) He's sweet, he's precious, he coos and laughs and smiles and just makes you happy by being around him :)
I'm Christy. Married to Jarid. Mom to Morgan and Owen. Puppy mom to Reagan and Maggie. Former probation officer. Catholic. Happy. Well loved. Very blessed.
